System Information

Operating system: Windows 11
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForec RTX 4070 Ti

Blender Version

Broken: version: 4.1.1, branch: blender-v4.1-release, commit date: 2024-04-15 15:11, hash: e1743a0317, type: Release
build date: 2024-04-15, 23:33:30

Worked: I renewed my computer, therefore I do not have any version working on it yet. I tried 3.6, 4.0, 4.1 all version have the same problem.

Description of Problem:

When I am working on a scene in any workspace, when I move objects, when I try to get render, Blender closes or windows crashes.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Based on the default startup or an attached .blend file (as simple as possible).

To reproduce the effect, you can follow these steps:

  1. Grab the Sphere
  2. Move it on the Plane on just YZ axis (lock the X)
  3. Continue moving the sphere, after a couple of seconds (max 4-5) it stops working

I attached system info for windows and Blender, crash reports for 3 different scenario, and Windows crash (in general it happens when I use Optix) screen

Hi, thanks for the report. Looks like you also experienced BSOD, this is usually not due to software. Instead OS/hardware/drivers are responsible. Re the BSOD error you got, it seems driver fault: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/debugger/bug-check-0xd1--driver-irql-not-less-or-equal

BTW, what CPU you have?

Thanks. Did you ever overclock the CPU or GPU? It is possible to run into such crashes after overclocking

I really do not know these technical issues, but if am not wrong the guy I bought the PC told me something like this. My answer is almost yes but I am not sure

Sorry to interrupt! I saw this YouTube video the other day,.....just sharing in case it might be useful.

"Motherboard Default settings could be COOKING your CPU!"

Are you still investigating the issue or are you waiting a response/action from me?

Sorry, I was AFK. Can you remove overclocking and check again?

Good morning,

I disabled XMP profile from BIOS settings, this is all I can do by myself because I do not have enough knowledge and experience to do further BIOS adjustments. I also reinstalled GPU driver after removing previous one with DDU. I use this PC without any problem with present BIOS settings with resource demanding softwares (games, video editors or image processors) demanding CPU and GPU loads. Adobe PS, Adobe Substance suits, Adobe Premier, Diablo IV etc.

I will write you couple of things which may give you more insights: I have blend files with really heavy scenes and generally Blender does not crash, it happens but not frequently, it does not make my workflow unbearable. It also crashes sometimes during render. I observed that these crashes occur only with "particular" blender files like the one I have sent you. In this file when I remove Geometry Nodes from the Plane it works without any problem. I should also say that I have scenes created just with the geometry nodes and Blender works perfectly.

Hi, is there any news??

Hi, is there any news??

Can you make sure you have latest drivers for GPU, under your PC works correct (by some utils from internet)?
Also, might you can check 2.8+ versions on blender?
