System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.22631-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Laptop GPU/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.6.0 NVIDIA 537.58

Blender Version
Broken: version: version: 4.1.1, branch: blender-v4.1-release, commit date: 2024-04-15 15:11, hash: e1743a0317bc
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)

Short description:

Beveling an edge on a flat geometry to create a curve gives inconsistent results.
The edges along the curve get distorted.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error:

  1. Create a plane
  2. Cut a horizontal edge through it
  3. Scale the top edge down significantly
  4. Add some vertical loops on the plane
  5. Now select the one horizontal edge in the middle (created in step 2) and bevel it with a profile value of 0.5 to create a curved sides.
  6. You should see distorted edges around the center of the plane

In the file I provided you can see how the distortion changes when the top edges move to the side.

Thanks
Bartosz

This is not looks like actual bug. If you have curve profile of the bevel, flat plane make it incorrect. But i'll confirm this\

Can confirm.

Can confirm.

All the other edges seem to be fine.
Only the ones near the middle jump up and down.
Also , the boundary edges of bevel are fine (straight), and the ones in between, near center are not even.

Here is a link to the Blender Artist forum where I brought this up:
https://blenderartists.org/t/is-blenders-bevel-messed-up/1530021

in the topic a Blender Development Contributor, Howardt
also seems to be thinking it's not a correct result and he asked me to report this as a bug.

Here is a more extreme example of the behavior:
