Meshes imported from STL files resize/move on rendering sufficiently complex scene #17452

%%%In the attached scene, after an indeterminate number of cylinders are added to it, any rendering from that point forward will cause the STL imported meshes (the squiggly channel in the attached files) to resize, and move to top of the world. Nothing else is visible in the rendered image either.

Pressing undo will move the mesh back, but it will still not be visible in the rendering.

The first attached file shows everything working ok (channel.blend)

The second attached file shows the exact same scene, though with some extra cylinders added, and rendering failing / meshes moving around on rendering (channel_lattice_a5_c.blend)

I've tested this on a Mac, and on a PC, both running Blender 2.46.%%%

%%%I'm also attaching the original STL files. If I take the rendering that fails (channel_lattice_a5_c.blend), delete the meshes from the STL files, and then reimport them with the same transformations, it renders fine.

Seems like this might help narrow down the bug.%%%

%%%The active camera for rendering is on a very strange location.
Select the camera in visible in the scene, CTRL+O, and you're set.

Also note you have scaled down objects enormously, if you want to use Blender properly (for animation especially) object scaling should be limited as much as possible. Make things small in editmode, or ctrl+A apply.%%%
