%%%--- Operating System, Graphics card ---
Windows 7, 64 bits.

- Blender version with error, and version that worked ---

r55545

- Short description of error ---

Dialogue displays "Can't find texture" when saving a packed .blend, even though the texture isn't in use anywhere in the .blend.

- Steps for others to reproduce the error (preferably based on attached .blend file) ---

This has been going on for a few years now, but finally decided to report it.

For some reason, blender can sometimes hold onto a texture that isn't in use. This is a problem when you're packing the files into Blender, because a dialogue will repeatedly say that it can't find a certain texture.

  1. Open the attached .blend

  2. Press Ctrl+S. This dialogue will appear: http://i.imgur.com/AkB3Am2.png

The texture that it is referencing is not used anywhere in the .blend file, yet the dialogue persists.%%%

%%%The texture is used, somewhere. Go into UVEditing workspace, click the "select image" button in the bottom left (View menu, Image menu, "select image" button, then "New" button), and it's the first one on the list. Click it, then instead of just clicking the "X" button three to the right (F, +, X), hold Shift while you click it to clear all references to that datablock.

Hit save, and it will still give you the error. But then reload the file and save again and it's gone (for me at least).%%%

%%%Wow I had no idea about the Shift+X to permanently delete.

But I'm wondering about another bug now... when I hit save it says "No files packed" and yet there are 2 image textures (Canvas.jpg & funky_paint_splashes.jpg) used in the scene. Is this a bug or am I missing something?%%%

%%%I think that means "no additional files packed" because they're already packed in the file. I'm not sure, though.%%%

%%%I think you're right actually. I just tried it in a new file and got the same thing.

Could someone make a change to the code so that the message reads "No new textures have been packed" as opposed to the incorrect "No textures have been packed"?%%%
