%%%--- Operating System, Graphics card ---
Windows 7 64bit,

- Blender version with error, and version that worked ---

all tested ... til now

- Short description of error ---

in case curve points have exactly the same position and one of each of their curve point handles (free handle) are also at the same spot (so that in fact two curve points and two handles are at the same spot),
it is not possible to select the curve points anymore - even when you click multiple times (normally when you click multiple times your selection toggles through the sequence of e.g.: handle of point1, point1, handle of point2, point2, ...)

when you move one handle away from the spot, the click toggle sequence is working (e.g.: when only one handle and two curve points are at the same spot)

- Steps for others to reproduce the error (preferably based on attached .blend file) ---
  1. open attached blend file.

  2. try to get the curve point in the front of the upper curve to catch, by clicking multiple times - you always get a curve handle, but not the curve point itself.

  3. move one of that curve handle away from the spot (select, and grab to any direction, so it is not near the selection point)

  4. now, you can select each handle and point of the curve at the spot, where one handle and two points lays, by clicking multiple times.

%%%Confirmed (Linux 64bit),

When I click, it always selects one of the handles and when I move that handle away, the selection sequence indeed works.

I have to say that this is an unfortunate situation that probably doesn't occur often, or am I wrong?
A work-around is to click once, press h to hide. This hides to point of the handle that you just selected. You can then select the
other point or it's handle. %%%

%%%Normally for meshes there's "limit selection to visible" which you might disable and cycle over the vertices with the same location. This feature is not implemented for curves.

Added it to our TODO list: http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Dev:2.5/Source/Development/Todo/Tools#Curves

Thanks for the report, but it's a TODO nto a bug.%%%
