This is a bit strange, I can't immediately see any commits that might cause this. The blender-2.69-19103b4-win64.zip build on buildbot was built with Visual Studio 2013 however (accidentally has the wrong name), so maybe it is because of that?

@brecht the 4b206af win64 build was fine for me, but the 19103b4 build doesn't open at the same size as my desktop, which is 1366x768 and that is with me just launching the .exe from win 7's file explorer. so i can confirm there is a bug.

@devs, i've just tested the 56081d5-win64-vc12 build and that still has blender's window size not filling my win 7 desktop. are you going to be able to fix this soon?

@Sergey the win 64 builds are still buggy with their window sizing, at least on windows 7 os. does this issue not affect other platforms as well?

i sincerely hope you devs are taking this seriously and want blender to look like a professional and polished app on windows as much as you care about mac and linux?

We have more than 200 open bugs in our tracker, we cannot do everything at once. Pushing the report over and over will not speed up this process.

We will check on this before the 2.70 release...

@ThomasDinges understood and fair point. i'll patiently wait for you to fix this when you do have time, thanks very much for replying thomas.

@ThomasDinges thanks very much for fixing the window's sizing bug.

the latest win64 build looks normal proportions again.

I didn't fix anything here, have not even looked at this yet. ;)

@ThomasDinges he he, well who ever fixed it, i'm sincerely grateful.

i know it was only off by a few pixels but it meant not all the buttons etc. i normally use in my custom layouts were where i'm used to them being, and it did look rather unpolished. hopefully if this happens again in the future you guys will know how to fix it, like it was this time.

@rattyredemption, did i understand correct that the issue is now fixed for you?

@Sergey yes, as of 5611fb6 win64, blender opens full screen in windows 7 when launched from the *.exe, i don't personally use cmd lines like the OP so can't give any feedback if that is fixed there as well.

Well, not sure why it works now, don't actually remember changes in that area. But if everything works for @beta-tester then we can just close the report :)

@Sergey the user preference popup window is now positioned incorrectly on win64 build fd0b104

the horizontal position seems ok, but the vertical is lower that it used to be, so the top edge of the popup is no longer aligned with the top of blender's main window. i could take a screen shot if you guys want?

@Sergey i just noticed the preference's window shifts vertical position each time i open it in fd0b104 so sometimes it is aligned with the top edge of blender's main window, and my win7 desktop, other times it's slightly lower by various amounts.

@Sergey: oops, i overlooked your comment (Wed, Jan 15, 2014-01-15T20:44:21+01:00 - then we can just close the report?)

it is a bit strange...
the official releases are ok. but the VS2013 builds are still broken - unfortunately the official builds are not as up to date as the VS2013 builds

(blender-2.69-windows64.zip - Ok)
issue_-window_size(2.69.0_r60995).png

(blender-2.69-fd0b104-win64.zip - Ok)

(blender-2.69-c0a4089-win64-vc12.zip - broken)
issue_-window_size(2.69.10_c0a4089).png
see the tiny red border i added - it is displaced

as soon the normal official build bot for windows 64bit is working again and VS2013 is not going into official builds, you can close that report.

@Sergey i think i found why the user preferences window doesn't always align with the top of the main blender window in the win64 official builds.

it appears if we use the shortcut keys ctrl alt u to open the popup, it is attempting to position itself where the mouse cursor is. if that is a new feature, then could we have to in a fixed position if opened from the file menu?

that way we still get the new feature if using the shortcuts keys.

Fixed the position difference now, this is a bug in Windows.

The user preferences opening at the mouse position is not new, it's not intended to align with the main Blender window. It could be changed but I do not consider the current behavior a bug.
