Processor: Intel Q9550, memory: 8GB DDR3
Graphic Card: Nvidia Geforce 550 Ti (2x in SLI)
Nvidia graphics driver version: 331.93

blender-2.69-19103b4-win64 (downloaded from builder.blender.org)

A fairly simple node setup I use for "postpro" in most of my renders, is giving problems and artifacts in some random renders/frames... (I'm just experimenting this problem since a couple of months).

Attached is a 10MB 7-zip (link, 'cause of Phabricator limitations) with an example scene (is a little heavy, ~26MB, but it shows a lot the problems I describe)... There's also a video file with a sequence rendered showing the random black squares in the top corners and some random frames getting messed up with the "Lens Distortion" parameter/node.

This seems to be related to the way the distort node reads values for the distort/dispersion inputs in combination with the Glare node.

I have reduced this file to a point where the bug(s) still show up but can be tested quicker, using an image input node instead of render layers (just touch one of the links to trigger recomposite):
CompoBug6.blend

The black corners show up every time (composite "hangs" on 100% for a few seconds before finishing and showing errors, this seems to be from the glare node).

  • As soon as you disconnect both the Distort and Dispersion inputs of the Distort node the bug does not show up
  • Likewise if you remove either the Glare node or the Distort node (passing through the input image directly), the bug will not show up - somehow the combination of both does not work.
