System Information
Operating system: OS X 10.6.8 (32 bit)
Graphics card: ATI Radeon X1600

Blender Version
2.69.0 r60991

Short description of error
The main window won't resize. I read the manual about interface windows, but this wan't addressed as far as I could tell. I also asked this in a forum and nobody knew the answer.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Put the cursor on the outermost edge of the main interface window and try to click and drag to resize it, but it won't resize.

Resizing works fine here on OS X 10.8.4.

Maybe there is a problem with OS X 10.6, but I haven't heard about this problem before and I can't really imagine which recent changes would be influencing this. Can you test older versions?

Do you have any special system settings that might be influencing this? The cursor it shows is non-standard at least, so perhaps there's something particular about your system setup?

I deleted my 2.69, rebooted, then installed 2.57.0 - r36339M and it won't resize either. I then looked for earlier versions on the older releases link you sent, but so many of them don't list OS X versions. According to http://www.oldapps.com/mac/blender.php 2.27 should work on OS X, but the official releases link doesn't show an OS X version. I hesitate to download from any other site lest it be unstable or worse. Which version do you recommend?

Regarding special system settings, I have none -- the cursor looks non-standard because my screen capture software wouldn't capture the cursor so I drew one on.
:)

2.57 is old enough, when that was developed I was running 10.6 and I'm sure window resizing worked for me then. So it's most likely not a bug that was introduced in a Blender version between now and then, but has always been there.

I'm not sure what is causing this then. If I understand correctly, if you move your mouse over the edge of the window, it shows the <-> resizing cursor, and when you drag the mouse nothing happens at all, the window stays the same size?

Maybe it's the 32 bit operating system, but that doesn't seem particularly likely. Not quite sure what to do here, I don't have a system with 10.6 installed. Maybe another developer or user can confirm the problem.

Hi! Thanks for your reply.

"If I understand correctly, if you move your mouse over the edge of the window, it shows the <-> resizing cursor, and when you drag the mouse nothing happens at all, the window stays the same size?"

Yes, exactly.

On OSX 10.6 and earlier, window resizing was limited to the bottom right. Resizing via the edges of a window was introduced with 10.7. Could this be related?

Ah yes, that's a good clue. If that's the case then the bug is that it is showing the the resize cursor at all.

It seems that it is indeed incorrectly showing the cursor for resizing editors on the edge of the window. However it seems this was fixed after the 2.69 in {e626998a262ebe4f621b88eb09ece1a48c1a3ef8}.

So in fact the latest build from http://builder.blender.org/download/ will solve the issue.

Thanks for clarifying the cursor on the edge...that does help. However, I'd still like to be able to resize the main window via a lower right pull tab. Is it easy to put one of those on?

I would expect that to work still. So you're saying that with the latest build from http://builder.blender.org/download/ dragging on the bottom right of the window to resize doesn't work for you?

That's correct. There is no pull tab shown in the lower right.

Just for info... on OSX 10.5.8 with Blender 2.63 the pull tab isn't shown, nevertheless resizing does work via the bottom right corner.

OMG! Thank you so much! I'd never gotten to use it because I had my OS X's dock on the bottom of the screen, so I couldn't get to that corner easily. I just moved my dock to the side and now I just discovered that 2.69 will indeed resize! That's so cool...thank you so much!

I really apologize for not noticing that before...I think that maybe because the cursor changed to resizing cursors on the sides but not on the corner I never moved my dock so that I'd have enough time to find the corner and pull on it. Maybe in the new release the cursor can change to the corner-resizing cursor so that we'll know it's possible, particularly if there's no pull tab.

One more thing that might be really nice given how OS Xs bottom-positioned dock is problematically in the way for resizing would be to create a way to set the default window size. I've gotten so used to having the dock on the bottom...damn the dock!

If you do Save Startup File (ctrl + U), Blender should in fact remember the window size the next time it starts. Anyway, as far as I can tell there's no bug here then.
