Can't save file after saving externally #40056

WIN7 / I7 3930 / 32gb Ram / Gtx 560 TI 2GB

Blender Version
Broken:2.70 7660218

Short description of error

If I create an image in image editor, try to edit, and then resave, it won't let me, screenshot below

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

open image editor
create new image
save it externally (save image as)
make anedit (paint a stroke or something)
click save image

at this point you should get the error in the image posted below.

Tested on Linux64bit and Windows7 (recent builds).

  • Can you redo from factory settings?
  • Does it happen from a saved blend file?
  • Can you try save to different paths to see if the exact path used is the case.
  • Can you test this on another system?
  • Does the image format saved make any difference?

I suspect the directory permissions are the cause of this issue, but for this you have to do some checking on your system to see why a path is detected as not writable.

Blender isn't doing anything special here, it tries to write a file, and in your case it fails... but I dont think this is a common problem,

Hi if you tried it on todays a351ff7 build then it works fine.

it still doesn't work in the hash I posted for this report. Nothing on my end. Might aswell close this report if it works now. in recent build.
