Linked objects flicker randomly #40604

System Information
Windows 7 64bit
NVidia GTX 570 x2

Blender Version
Broken: 2.7 build e8c63ca
Worked: 2.70a

Short description of error
Uncontrolled flickering during render. Note: when using the Vector Blur node, the objects blur as if they're moving, but they have no animation.
The_Holiday_Bug_Animated_Logo_step_1.mp4

A second issue that may be related: occasionally when grabbing a bone it will suddenly jump elsewhere (its rest pose?). I have to right-click to drop it and move the timeline so it returns to its keyed position, then grab and move it again. I say this may be related because the "flickering" models appear to be repositioning themselves somewhere else.

Also, I created proxies (ctl-alt-p) for the cookie models. Then when I grab one, all move. I haven't linked many models, but this was unexpected behavior. I undid the proxying. Note: this did not change the flickering behavior.

I apologize if these are, in fact, separate bugs.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
I merely linked a few models into a scene. All, except one flickers at render time. Those models that flicker are those I duplicated (shift-D) and one I made a proxy for so I have access to the rig for animation. The linked model that doesn't flicker is one that is merely linked, no duplication, no proxy.

I've attached a packed .blend file.

In case a packed .blend file doesn't pack linked objects, here's a link to a zip file for the project.

Please note that this bug is still present in the Blender 2.71 RC2.

Please don't mix different issues in a single report even if they looks related, do a separate bug report with own simple .blend which demonstrates the issue.

As for the rendering issue, does it help rendering in "Full Screen" display mode or locking the interface (the lock button next to the Display menu)? it seems to be just a threading conflict between renderer and viewport.

I apologize for the multiple issues. I'll make separate bug reports.

I didn't find the lock button you were referring to, but I maximized the dope sheet window (so there was no viewport), rendered, and the flickering was gone, so you are apparently correct regarding the conflict.

Locked interface button is on the right to the Display label in the Render panel, below the Audio button. It's indeed known that render and viewport still have some threading conflicts and it's considered a TODO for now.

If you've got more issues here, send them as a separate bug reports.
