Game engine physics crashes Blender 2.72 + previous versions #42084

Blender Version
Broken: 2.72 (official release), 2.71, 2.70

Short description of error
Within the game engine if an object has both a simple motion actuator and a character motion actuator connected at the same time (with character physics turned on and collision bounds), Blender crashes upon collision. (this error only happens with collision bounds selected)
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
broken.blend

For this example .blend press 'p' to start the Game engine ^

To reproduce the error (with game engine selected):

  • add a plane to the default scene
  • set it to static + actor
  • drag the default cube above the plane
  • (switch viewport to Game Engine)
  • to the cube add 1 simple motion actuator + 1 character motion actuator.
  • add 2 sensors and connect to actuators
  • set physics type on cube to 'character'
  • check collision bounds of any type
  • press p to start game engine

The issue is related with using a Character physics + Triangle mesh as collision bound.
It is a duplicated of #40684
