System Information
Operating system and graphics card
Windows 7 64 bit, Nvidia graphics card.

Blender Version
2.72 560dd93

Short description of error

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Based on a (as simple as possible) attached .blend file with minimum amount of steps

The attached .blend file has a scalp with hair. The problem occurs when you press the "Bake" button in the "Cache" panel in the particles window. The message says: "2 frames on disk" if the Cache Step is greater than 1 but works OK if the Cache Step is set to 1. hair_dynamics_only_writes_to_disk_if_cache_step_equals_one.blend

An additional note is that if the hair particle system is deleted and a new one created on this particular mesh then the new particle system has the same problem. Even if a new object is created, like an icosphere, and particle hair added to it in this .blend file then it will also have this problem with disk cache. So it looks like there is something at a higher level than object level where the problem is.

Can confirm this is a broken feature. However, we are going to replace the whole point cache system anyway, so for now i would just advice to set cache step to 1.
