System Information
Windows 8.1 Pro x64, i7-2600, GeForce GTX660 2MB (337.88), 16GB RAM

Blender Version
Broken: 2.73 Testbuild 1 x64, Gooseberry branch build(2014-12-14 11:48, f2a7c2f)
Worked: 2.72, 2.71b, 2.72.2(2014-11-24 22:04 435eaa7)

Short description of error
Blender crashes and draws wrong UI (vanished button, colored grid, wire and buttons) when using GLSL shading mode and normal map.
See the attached zip file, it's funny. :-)

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Make a texture image for normal mapping.
  2. Using 1) file to texure the cube object with normal mapping.
  3. Set a 3DView draw mode to Textured or Material with GLSL shading mode.
  4. You can see nice colored wire, vanished buttons, and colored buttons ! ;-)

Can confirm on Linux with latest master here. Looks like an OpenGL issue... @Psy-Fi if you don't mind? :)

I can't reproduce at all here -even checked out the commit you mention-. There's a chance this is a driver issue but I'll leave that open just in case someone can reproduce.

I cant reproduce the bug, the normal map is displayed correctly, no crashes.
os: win 7 32 bit.
blender: 2.73 win 32 tb1 (normal build).
gpu: AMD Radeon HD 7310M.

To correct something here, there doesn't happen a crash (as we define it), just a weird looking interface: normalmap_bug.png
However, I talked to @Psy-Fi about it, and it looks like a graphics driver issue. In that case there is not much we can do. We'll run some more tests to get more details first. Of course everyone else is welcome as well.

HI,
Thank you for verifing and comments.

Unfortunately, I can't install any other video drivers because my system has a bug that is famous "nvlddmkm.sys" BSOD.
But I found a workaround to avoid this problem.

  1. Open the User Preferences of blender
  2. Go to Systems tab, set "VBOs" option to ON.

@JulianEisel Please confirm it also works for Linux if you want. :)

Hope it helps.

Yep, can confirm that... @Psy-Fi, what's your judgment?
