When using a pressure sensitive tablet, drawing straight vertically up and down seems to register little to no pressure sensitivity causing very transparent (for Strength) lines and very thin (Radius). Drawing horizontally and drawing at very steep slopes works as expected. The erratic behaviour only seems to happen when drawing perfectly straight up and down. Seems to happen in when drawing on images and also occurs when sculpting.
Can't reproduce the same effects in Gimp 2.8.10 (Ubuntu Trusty Tahr Repository) and Inkscape 0.48 (Ubuntu Trusty Tahr Repository).
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Plug in graphics tablet.
Open blender.
Change the editor type to UV/Image Editor
Create a new image.
Change the editing context to Paint.
Ensure that pressure sensitivity is enabled for Strength and/or Radius
Draw Up and Down on the image.

This could be an OS or Tablet brand/model specific problem. It looks fine here.
I'm beginning to think this might be an OS/Driver error after all. I could have sworn that the tablet worked properly on Xubuntu 14.04 at one point and an update along the way caused this behavior to happen. I re-installed Xubuntu 14.04 to confirm it wasn't an update to the system but it seems to have the erratic behavior on that as well.

I can't reproduce the bug. Everything seems to be working as normal.

Yeah indeed, this looks like an OS/driver issue for which we can't do much.
So thanks for the report but closing for now.
