System Information
Linux Mint 17 Cinnamon 64-bit

Blender Version
Broken: 2.73 b4d8fb5
Worked: 2.72b 9e963ae

Weight paint colourization not shown eventhough weight is applied to vertices.

  1. Start a new blend file
  2. Select the default cube and in "Edit Mode" subdivide the vertices by 10.
  3. Switch to "Weight Paint" mode and use the brush on the cube.

In version 2.73 the weight paint colourization is not being displayed eventhough it is being applied. This can be checked by going back into edit mode and enabling "Show Weights" under "Mesh Display" (View -> Properties).
Based on a (as simple as possible) attached .blend file with minimum amount of steps.

I'm pretty sure I saw a similar report some days ago but can't find it... Anyway, it works fine here and I'd guess it's a graphics driver issue again :/ Could you run Blender using the blender-softwaregl scipt bundled with it? This may run really slow but shows us wether this is driver related or not.

It works normally when running blender using blender-softwaregl script.

And again we need poor @Psy-Fi :| Do you think we can do something here or shall we just throw it into the canal and blame drivers again?

Can you try enabling VBO in user preferences? Does it help?

It does not seem to make a difference.

Can we see your system_info.txt file? (Generate from help menu and open in a blender text editor)

I see Gallium here, probably something wrong at their end. Will archive this as driver dependent, probably should be reported to the Gallium team.

Hi!
Just wanted to say that I have same issue.
Ubuntu 12.04 with default drivers.
Radeon HD4200 Mobile
Blender 2.76b

And I think this is that similar bug report:
https://developer.blender.org/T45670#345654

Tried blender version 2.72 as in similar bug report suggested but it didn't help.
So it seems not blender fault.
