Set the viewport to wire while texture painting crash blender #44421

System Information
Windows XP professional x32 bits, and a Intel (r) G41 intel chipset family.

Blender Version
Broken: 2.74.4 55b7a8c
Worked: 2.70.5 7891899

Short description of error
If you are using texture paint, and change the viewport to wire, it will make blender instantly close.

It happens since the 2.72 version.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Create a new file.
  2. Create a texture.
  3. Unwrap default cobe for put it the created texture.
  4. Open texture paint with viewport set to solid or texture.
  5. Press Z to change viewport to wire.

Example file

Just press "Z".

I cannot confirm that here (linux64, latest master).

This sounds like a driver bug, can you please try to place this dll next to your blender.exe (software OGL, will be slow, but will show whether this is a driver issue or not).

With that dll blender doesn't crash (and as you say, blender get really slow), do you mean a graphic driver? That's a problem, the lastest driver for my card is from 2012, there's no more.

Yeah, I’m afraid the bug is in your GPU driver. We cannot do anything from our side, you’ll either have to leave with the crash, or use the DLL (but will make Blender UI slooooowwwwww)…
