System Information
Ubuntu 14.04 LTS 64-bit. Graphic Card: Intel Haswell Mobile

Blender Version
Broken: Blender 2.76 RC 2 e24ea81
Worked: (optional) Blender 2.75a

Short description of error
When I delete a blend file then I turn on Blender. The splash screen shows the deleted file again. i click on it and this message shows up: "Cannot read file", "No such file or directory."

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
If you save a simple blend file then delete it from memory. Then turn Blender on. The splash screen shows the deleted file again. When you click on the file on the splash screen, you will get the "Cannot read file" error message.

This was an intentional change in 01a8216a4b. It's a bit annoying, but speeds up startup time. The file should also disappear after it failed to load once, see c54df2ad47.

Anyway, thanks for the report, but currently don't see a bug here :)
