System Information
Archlinux

Blender Version
Broken: 7e6d096 from official buildbot

Short description of error

The standalone player segfaults after pressing the in-game "play" button.
Everything works fine in the embedded player.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Open this .blend . The textures etc. in the rest of the repo aren't needed to reproduce the crash, which occurs regardless of whether or not they are present. Unfortunately I wasn't able to easily reproduce the crash with a simple test file, but the crash happens consistently with this file.

  2. Exit full screen (alt F10) and start the stand-alone player

  3. Click play

  4. It crashes.

  5. Click play with the embedded player

  6. it works as expected.

Hi, Could you upload the file on another host? I seems the files size is limited here and your .blend has been "truncated", so we can't dowload it completely. And if possible, could you try to find the last blender version in which the file worked with standalone to help devs to find the responsible commit of the bug? Thanks!

And congrats for BGMC

@you.le Thanks! The message about truncating only refers to displaying it in the browser. If you click "raw file " it should give you the whole thing.

I tested it in 2.76 (release) and 2.69, both resulted in crashes. Note that to test it in any version < 2.76, you'll need to remove the contents of the embedded 'bge_warning.py' file; otherwise there won't be a play button to click.

Here is what my debugger says: http:*www.pasteall.org/pic/97340 http:*www.pasteall.org/pic/97341 http://www.pasteall.org/pic/97342

applymodifier function is called in standalone whereas it is not called in embedded... I don't know why. I'll take a look later and edit comment.

There are some modifiers which don't work in standalone: eg: displace modifier.

Modifier remesh makes blender crash. I'll try to find a fix.

To solve your issue, for the moment, you can try to apply all your modifiers before running the game in standalone.

The dualcon function called in applymodifier (MOD_remesh) is in stubs.c for the blenderplayer and returns NONE so it makes blender crash. I don't know how to deal with that, so waiting for better: http://www.pasteall.org/63209/diff
