System Information
Windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP1 & Linux Mint 64-bit version 17
Video: GeForce GTX 750 Ti 4095 MB - OpenGL 4.4, driver version 10.18.13.6191 (Windows 7) - DirectX 11
Blender Version
Broken: 2.77 test build 2016-02-13 12:41 Hash
6a593ab
Worked: 2.76b public version
Short description of error
Tested on Windows 7 Professional and Linux Mint 17 with same results: VSE Scene strip overlays correctly with everything else in Channel 0 using version 2.76b (regardless of OpenGL Preview being on/off) Scene strip is visible, but other channels are NOT visible in Channel 0 using 2.77 (and other recent development builds) unless OpenGL Preview is OFF. Does not appear to have anything to do with other Channel choice or Alpha Over Blend setting of the Scene strip, etc.... Sorry if I'm missing something obvious....if so, why the change?
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Open attached blend file - textSync3D-Working Demo/textSync3D.blend - in version 2.76b versus 2.77 test build (or other recent dev builds).
2.76b overlays video/text strips/Scene strip accurately in Channel 0 ...2.77 does not. The video appears to be found OK by Blender as it appears separately in its own channel, as do the text strips.

Update, modified this commit

so the scene transparency setting is used since there are some use-cases where showing the background is important.Campbell - Thanks for the quick response...
