Short description of error
When you cut (CTRL+X) and paste (CTRL-V) a Gpencil stroke, Gpencil paste what it is on the buffer and not the recently selected strokes and if you cut and paste only some point from the stroke shows a warning "no strokes to paste. select and copy some points before trying again"
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Behavior 1:
Add new Gpencil
Draw a line
Enter edit strokes mode
Select an entire stroke and press CTRL-X
Paste the stroke (CTRL-V) -> Blender paste what is in the buffer and not the recently selected stroke
Behavior 2:
Add new Gpencil
Draw a line
Enter edit strokes mode
Select only some points from the stroke and press CTRL-X
Paste the points (CTRL-V) -> Blender shows a warning "no strokes to paste. select and copy some points before trying again"

Ooh.... No wonder there's this confusion! Ctrl-X is "Dissolve" not "Cut". We don't actually have a "cut" operator - just a copy and paste.
EDIT: Just noticed that Ctrl-X is used for "Dissolve" in Mesh Editing too... hrm...
Sorry for the confusion!, good to know. You´re right CTRL-X is for dissolve.
I was trying to use cut for move a series of points or strokes from one layer to another but I realized that we have M for that
The only thing to notice is that M only works for an entire stroke and not for a series of points

@ideasman42:
Since Ctrl-X is commonly used in other software for "Cut", and we often have Copy and Paste (Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V) in the places where Ctrl-X is being used, I think it is asking for trouble if we keep having Ctrl-X = "Dissolve", because on the surface, they appear to do the same thing until you later try to paste. Would Shift-X be a better hotkey for this instead?
