CentOS, Nvidia Titan

Blender Version
Broken: 2.78 RC1

Short
Renders each face separately while adaptive subdiv on imported obj

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Export any object to an obj file.
Import back this obj into blender. By the way, it applies weird shading to it and if the object was exported with flat shading, it marks every edge as sharp (bug or feature?)
Enable adaptive subdiv.
Get each face smoothed and rendered separately.
