Short description of error
when a file becomes too complexe, textures start to become white or pink and render crashes blender either at begin or end.
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
I'm still investigating to find a way to reproduce the error on a manageable file.
But for the record in between, this is how it looks right:
in the file where the bug first happened (note the white borders):
and after I removed nearly everything except the object with the problematic textures:
The object is a linked group and was thus never modified in any way between the shots. Reloading the file after deleting some materials in the file removes the bug and replacing some materials with dummy ones (so keeping the exact same material number and structure) also removes the artifact, but not the crash.
Viewport render is fine in the file where the white border appear.
CPU render seem less prone to this random behavior, but the crash is still there.
Opening the production file with a debug build crashes right away with a useless stacktrace with 0x0000 everywhere
Any hint on how to narrow down the bug and provide a file without it being the original one is welcome.

after some time, I managed to make a file that has the bug in release build and open in debug build. But it renders correctly there and won't crash after rendering is finished. Some things more are printed to console however. Dunno if it can give any hint. Here it is: bug texture complexe files.txt

We can only fix bugs which we can reproduce. So please attahc file which demonstrates the issue.
I can not tell much from the log file you've attached. Try re-saving the textures without EXIF and see if that makes any difference.

ok, this is related to https://developer.blender.org/T52163. When I remove all object with carve boolean modifier, it renders good again. So it seems there is an overflow due to carve, creating random bugs like crashes, missing textures or geometry, depending on which part of memory is being overwritten.
