Denoising uses too much Vram #52630

Windows 10, Nvidia GTX 1070

Blender Version
Broken: 2.79 5e9132b

Short description of error
Whilst rendering on gpu, I could render at 2560x1440 at 5000 samples at full resolution with denoising turned off, yet was not able to to even finish a render with 1920x1080 at half resolution at 100 samples with it turned on, I always get the error, CUDA error: out of memory in cuMemAlloc(&device_pointer , size), line 568{F767171}

I think that I attached a file so you can try it for yourself, its kinda big tho, so sorry for that :-)

See the release notes: https://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Dev:Ref/Release_Notes/2.79/Cycles

When using GPU rendering, the denoising process may use a significant amount of vRAM. If the GPU runs out of memory but renders fine without denoising, try reducing the tile size. Also, using left-to-right or right-to-left as the tile order can sometimes help because fewer tiles are kept in memory that way.

So this is a known issue, we have some ideas to reduce memory usage here but it's not considered a bug currently.
