Blender Version
Broken: latest master
Worked: no idea

Short description of error

<lijenstina_> does duplicating and minimazing one window> save> restart blender> reopen save> maximize the minimized one > and f12 on it crashes blender?

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Do what lijenstra said.

  1. optionally open bugger.blend, maximize both windows (one of them should have no content) press F12, get a crash in render_open_view

BKE_screen_find_big_area returns null, gets dereffed , which naturally crashes..

I can not reproduce the issue on Linux. It's also weird why you mention one window has an empty content. This doesn't sound right and might very well be a reason of actual crash.

So afraid it is up to you to investigate why window have no content ;) Maybe @brecht will have some clues here as well? :)
