Short description of error
Blender crashes and closes when trying to bring up Texture Paint.
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Add an object (default cube or other). Mark seams and unwrap. Select UV Editing and apply texture. Click on Texture Paint. Program closes.

Can confirm (OS: Win 10). Blender also crashes in the following scenario:

  • Add grid with default settings.
  • Add Dynamic Paint -> Add Canvas
  • Change 3D View to Texture Paint
  • Crash

Console output:

Error   : EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION
Address : 0x00007FF6AE552C29
Module  : <path to blender>\blender.exe

With Windows 10 and a Geforce 940M as the graphics card, Blender also crashes in this scenario

Steps to repoduce:

  • Open blender
  • Add any non-cube mesh (eg, Plane)
  • Click Texture Paint at the top
  • Blender Closes
