System Information
Operating system: Windows 10.0.17134.523
Graphics card: NVidia Geforce 980 TI

Blender Version
Broken: 2.80-2826c2be545e-win64, 2019-01-12

Short description of error
Problem: In animation view, if you have an object with a normal map and you show object shaded view, the object turns white if you change the object in pose mode. The problem carries over to other viewports but restores itself after a while until you go back to the animation viewport. I only encountered the problem when I have a normal map on the object as well as an armature and in pose mode.

Fix (or workaround): In the default animation view there is a second 3D viewport to the left. You have to set that one to shading mode "LookDev" as well.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
See video to reproduce from blender startup file: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dn8ey-2KR88

Thanks for the report.
Please provide the .blend file (with the texture packed into it) to make it easier for use to reproduce the issue.

Attaching #60477.blend

I realized that the armature is not needed for the behavior to appear so the attached file has no armature.

Please pack the textures into the .blend file, they are missing in the file you uploaded.

Thanks. When I open this file, everything works as expected. Is the problem visible as soon as you open the file?
Please describe the bug again based on the file you uploaded (using text).

It isn't visible right away when you open the file it seems.

  1. Open blend file
  2. Go to Shading workspace
  3. Go to Animation workspace
  4. Set shading to solid mode
  5. Set shading to LookDev

The box then turns white for me as screenshot shows.

Thanks. For me the object becomes black instead of white but I guess the problem is pretty much the same.

The problem probably exists because the second 3D viewport to the left is set to "solid mode" whereas the viewport we just changed is set to LookDev so I guess there is some sort of conflict / leak of settings when there are multiple viewports with different shading settings.
