Win 10
amd radeon
Intel i5

blender 2.8
Hash :7707bf203c0f

Extremely innacurate (impossible ) result when trying to select vertices when adjust edit cage is on for the subdivision modifier

  • Create plane
  • Go into edit mode
  • create subdivision modifier
  • Enable ''adjust edit cage to modifier result
  • Now try to select so,e vertices with the left mouse button , ctrl +righ mouse button ( lasso ) doesn't work either

Works fine for me. Please try if the issue still exists in a newer version of Blender.

Noppes , I just donwloaded the latest beta .
I can only select 1 vertice

But if I do it on a box , It does work when selecting edges , but not with vertices
As soon as I select a vertice , the move tool drops to the zero postion on the z axis , and stays there
Maybe it's a graphics card issue

Yes, probably a GPU issue. Are you using the latest drivers available for your card? https://www.amd.com/en/support

All I can say is that I don't have this issue with blender 2.79 , my graphics card is pretty old but it does meet blenders 2.8 requirements

You still didn't answer my question. Do you have the latest drivers for your card?
If so, what card do you have?

An old amd radeon hd5700
But it would be weird if only these vertices issues are caused by the graphics card

Not really, we use the gpu to determine what should be selected.

@fclem I guess this is an other one of those "we will accept a fix if it is posted, but we can't fix this ourselves"?

Any news on this , it still happens with the latest build ,except when 'show whole scene transparent is on , it works correctly
If I could fix it myself , I would

No news yet. fclem is very busy so it will take a while.

I'll assign this in the mean time.

I have some more info concerning this issue , and this time subdivision modifier is not even inserted
It also occurs when I hide a part of a mesh
When I hide the top half of a sphere , I can only select the front facing vertices
