System Information
Operating system: Windows 10 Pro
Graphics card: MSI GTX 1080Ti

Blender Version
Broken: blender-2.80-779860d34e26 and since the bevel shader implementation

Short description of error
Bevel shader when baked to the normal map has slight discolorations that follow mesh wireframe. Color shifts from 8080ff to 807fff in those areas and crates unwanted artifacts.
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Bake a normal map of your low poly mesh with bevel added in your material. It's most visible on flat areas with some triangles.

I don't know a lot about baking in Blender, however it looks like the issue here is already on the original mesh.

Adding new edges like so might fix the issue:

Or use custom normals somehow...

Can you solve the issue with that information?

don't know if OP was reffering to this image.png.

i have similar issue where there is a visible line along the mesh edges in the normal map.

in the image above lines are exaggerated in ps to show the issue.

Don't know if its connected to this but, when i subtract normals from geometry node with normals from bevel node i get this:

image.png

Which implies that the bevel shader node affects normals accross the all shading points on the surface, not just where the bevel takes place. I am not sure if this was intended behavior?

Same thing with the OP's example image.png

Thanks

It's been a while since there has been a post on this, but I myself have also been getting the triangle-artifacts upon baking. Which is a huge bummer cause everything else seems to be fine after making sure proper UV's are squared away to the best of your ability to hide seams. However, I haven't had any luck in getting rid of these triangle artifact bakes when using the Bevel Shader. Has anyone got any information or break throughs on this?
