Short description of error
Hair dynamics not working. Tried baking etc but no joy.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Based on the default startup or an attached .blend file (as simple as possible).
Just press render
Hair_explosion.blend

It works in Ubuntu 18.04.2 with AMD RX580

Hey..btw if you hit the play button in around frame 13 it goes mental. Same with render.. get to 13 or so and see.

Last pic is when i just land on frame and go into edit mode then back into object mode. seems to refresh the hair but without dynamicss

Still with today's 2019-05-19 build i get the issue at frame 13.. also feeing the cache doesn't change

Not sure if it's related on dynamics. Disabling it does not appear to be affecting on the issue.

One thing to facilitate developers fixing the issue is to simplify the file. Debugging such kind of issues on a fully features animated and rigged character is a huge time sink.

@Sergey: it is dynamics [disabling for all particlesystems on all objects (on the character there are multiple) fixes the explosion for me]
Agree though that a simpler file would be welcome, lets see if I can narrow it down...

Hey

So I decided to go at it again. I exported an obj, imported and re-rigged and re did the hair. Still getting explosions

I turned off the main fur to make it easier/simpler

Any suggestions? Use 1 particle system on 1 mesh?

I simplified the file to make it easier to identify the bug (explosion).
If I change the value of the Pin Goal Strength to something like 1.0. The problem seems to be solved.
So I suspect the issue lies in the file system's particle settings and not in the code itself.

The problem is not clearly revealed in this report.
The file is very complex and the scenario described is too time consuming for us to track down.
If it's important it's probably been reported in another report with simpler test case.

What happened - the bake worked all the way through but on the dodgy frame (149) the explosion is there. The god thing is that the sim has continued after that where it didn't before so I can at least work around it.
