Vertex paint color picker not acaccurate #63586

System Information
Operating system: manjaro linux
Graphics card: AMD 580RX

Blender Version
Broken: 2.80 beta
Worked: (optional)

Short description of error
Using the color picker in the vertex paint the 'picked' color in not the actual vertex colors.
Instead it seems like its taking a screen grab of the viewport and sampling the pixel color.
The expected behavior should be to pick the vertex colors of the mesh.
Also note that changing the color management/profiles in blender plays around with these colors also!

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Apply some color to a mesh.
Then use the color picker to pick the color from the mesh. Notice that if a face is selected the colors chosen are lighter. Or if there is lighting, it picks the color of the lighting.

I have understood that pipette/color picker always takes color from screen, instead of the real color. In my opinion, this by default should take samples of the real color as it does by default "S" key in Texture Paint mode (option Sample Merged disabled).

Anyway, real color Sampling was never implemented for Vertex Paint, which is really a problem and makes limited color sampling in Vertex Paint. In 2.79 it always worked as if Sample Merged was enabled, regardless of whether the box of the Sample Merged option was enabled or not. In 2.8, I assume that to avoid confusion, with "S" Sample Merged option was removed for Vertex Paint mode.

It would be great if developers could implement real color sampling for Vertex Paint mode. Taking color samples from the screen/pixel instead of real color is not useful for any painting mode if you want to take samples from your mesh. Perhaps a screen/pixel pipette sample is useful when you want take samples from an image you have loaded as reference for example, but the way in which it is implemented makes things confusing in my opinion, as in the case of this user report.

We should improve this once but it's not a bug to be handled in the tracker.
