Inconsistent selection of a camera with left-click (conflicting with lens gizmo) #64364

System Information
Operating system: Arch Linux
Graphics card: GTX970

Blender Version
Broken: 2.80, 036e95bb21

The issue below was not present in the latest 2.7x release

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Create an empty scene, add a single camera
  2. Deselect all
  3. Try to select the camera by left-clicking on the up-triangle. This fails quite often, depending on the size of the camera in the viewport, the distance away from the current view, etc.

Can confirm.
Selection seems to favor the camera lens gizmo when the camera is small in the viewport, as the issue goes away if you turn that gizmo off.

This also happens in a camera view, where it is even more annoying. Clicking on the image outline will fail to select, even though it gets highlighted when hovering over it with the mouse

Cant redo, however it could be conflicting with the camera gizmo.

Does disabling gizmos resolve this?

Yes, disabling gizmos in camera view makes the selection of the camera work reliably

Checked this again and still can't redo the error.

Clicking selects, dragging interacts with the camera gizmo.

Can you try this again with factory settings?

I just tested with 2.82.7 and it seems the behaviour doesn't show up anymore. I also re-tested with 2.81.16 and there it definitely is present. So perhaps this got "fixed" somewhere in between.
