System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.18362 64 Bits
Graphics card: GeForce GTX 1060/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 431.36

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.80 (sub 74), branch: master, commit date: 2019-07-09 22:45, hash: 3b4054cb58
Worked: (optional)

Short description of error
Viewport focusing on armature origin instead of bone origin when using the period "." button to focus on bone in weight painting mode. Pose mode for armature is also enabled.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • Create a simple mesh and create a simple armature with few bones.
  • Parent Mesh To armature with automatic weights.
  • Switch Pose Mode in Armature
  • Uncheck "Lock Object Modes" in Edit Menu.
  • Select Mesh
  • Go To Weight Paint Mode
  • Select any bone and press period to focus on that bone.
  • It will focus on armature origin instead of the bone.

It actually works when I open your file [hitting peroid directly]
It actually works when I open your file [selecting another bone, then hitting peroid]

I starts breaking when not clicking on a bone, but on the cylinder [same bone still selected] it then focuses on the armature origin.
Selecting a bone does not "recover" again.

It can be "recovered" by enabling Lock Object Modes and clicking on a bone.
If this is enabled it also doesnt start "breaking".

It's a bit weird (not even sure if this is a bug yet), but confirming for now and checking...

It was not used to work like this in older releases, so, I thought this is a bug. Changing Lock Mode in weight paint mode and selecting a bone to focus on it is not working here though.

@Nabarun : yep true, I was basically taking debugging notes ;) [still think this could be a bug as well, in the middle of checking...]
