Blender Airplay Drawing Glitch #67752

System Information
Operating system: Darwin-18.2.0-x86_64-i386-64bit 64 Bits
Graphics card: AMD Radeon R9 M290 OpenGL Engine ATI Technologies Inc. 4.1 ATI-2.4.10

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.80 (sub 75), branch: master, commit date: 2019-07-24 14:22, hash: 507ffee6e1
Worked: (2.79)

Short description of error
I'm using Airplay to share the screen with students via AppleTV.
When I stop Airplaying:

  • Blender draws its UI in the lower left of the window with a big red stripe along the top and right. Screen Shot 2019-07-26 at 12.13.47 PM.png
  • Blender's understanding of the mouse position doesn't line up with where the cursor is drawn on screen. (i.e. to click the help menu, I need to mouse my mouse to the top of the bright red strip far outside of Blender.

Another Airplay attempt after the red strip shows up will "invert" the problem. Blender starts to draw its UI larger than the available window. I can see the bottom left of Blender, but the rest is clipped at the window edge. Screen Shot 2019-07-26 at 12.39.17 PM.png

Some of this issue definitely lies with Airplay as we've having a somewhat glitchy experience with it this past year.
But I haven't seen it mess up the Blender interface till 2.8.
As a test I opened Blender 2.79 and was not able to create this problem with it.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Open Blender 2.8
Airplay to an AppleTV
From the Airplay menu choose all of the different mirror options (I have Monitor 1, Monitor 2 and the AppleTV itself).
In one of these switches the Red Stripe should appear.
Then turn off Airplay.
The Red Stripe should stay and the Mouse position should be miscalculated.

Good luck with the Release Candidate work!

Have you tried Apple-TV support?
https://support.apple.com/apple-tv

For the problem to be investigated we need to reproduce it, but hardly any of the developers in this area will have this device available.
So there is not much to do :\

Thanks for the reply!

I'll see if I can get any info on the Airplay side of the problem.
And if it's useful, I'll see how easy it is to reproduce on other hardware and Apple TVs (we've got them in most every classroom on campus, so they're easy to find here).
