System Information
Operating system: Linux-5.3.0-26-generic-x86_64-with-debian-buster-sid 64 Bits
Graphics card: Mesa DRI Intel(R) HD Graphics 520 (Skylake GT2) Intel Open Source Technology Center 4.5 (Core Profile) Mesa 19.2.1

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.81 (sub 16), branch: master, commit date: 2019-12-04 11:32, hash: f1aa4d18d4

(also tested with Blender 2.83-c5c46e5b74a0-linux-glibc217-x86_64 and exactly same error)

Short description of error

When exporting a selected object, the resulting COLLADA file is corrupted only if this object is a child of another object in Blender.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • Open blender and dismiss dialog to use default scene.
  • Copy default cube (Shift+D) and parent it to the first one (CTRL+P with the two objects selected).
  • Select child cube.
  • Go to File > Export > Collada (Default) (.dae).
  • Make sure in settings that only "Selection Only", "Triangulate" is checked.
  • Export.

Now if I open the COLLADA file as a visual mesh in gazebo I get the following errors :

[Err] [Visual.cc:2252] Visual::InsertMesh no submeshes, this is an invalid mesh
[Err] [Visual.cc:372] Ogre Error:OGRE EXCEPTION(2:InvalidParametersException): Header chunk didn't match either endian: Corrupted stream? in Serializer::determineEndianness at /build/ogre-1.9-B6QkmW/ogre-1.9-1.9.0+dfsg1/OgreMain/src/OgreSerializer.cpp (line 89)
[Err] [Visual.cc:373] Unable to create a mesh from /home/erdnaxe/untitled.dae

At first I though it was a Ogre-related issue, but when I clean parent (ALT+P) then export it works.
