System Information
Operating system: Windows 10 version 1909
Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce MX250

Blender Version 2.82
Broken: (example: 2.80, edbf15d3c0, master, 2018-11-28, as found on the splash screen)
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected) 2.82 worked in my 10 year old computer

Short description of error
When trying to set up material in Edit mode using the Shader editor.. When I add an image texture node, Blender crashes the entire computer ... Also, am finding that if I have Blender open and stop working in for even 3 minutes, it crashes in my new computer.

I have pavilion 15T-CS200, Nvidia GeForce MX250, Intel UHD Graphics 620, 16GB ram, I have reinstalled twice and still it crashes.. IF I use 2.81, I can set up my material while in Object Mode, switch into Edit mode to apply the texture.. BUT again, if I stop working in Blender for ever 3 minutes it crashes the computer to a blue screen.. My Nvidia graphics chip has the newest drivers... This is a brand new computer from HP.. I have only had it since April 24..

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
I model my object and when going into Edit mode and adding a material.. go to Shader Editor and add image texture.. before I could even open the texture, blender would crash my computer... NOW 2.81 is crashing the computer if I stop working in it for minimum 3 minutes..

Please run blender_debug_log.cmd (Blender directory) & upload both the files.

Also upload the zipped image you're using as texture.

3D DOCK AND BOAT 050120.blend system-info.txt Here is the Blender file I was working on... I fought with the blender crashing to work on it... I packed all the textures into the file (hopefully I did it right)... and here is the system info I got when I ran the Debug of Blender 2.82 (someone told me how to run so hopefully I ran it correctly...

I really do Love working with Blender.. I've been using it for quite a while, trying to learn the modeling and hope to get better at it.. I'm retired so I will spend anywhere from 3 to 8 hours a day working in Blender...

thank you for looking at it.. I have never had an issue with it before.. I just bought the new laptop and don't know what is causing my issue.. I was guessing a conflict of something...

Please retry adding the texture after moving this folder elsewhere temporarily: C:\Users\bkort\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\
That'll rule out addons.

Good Morning, Sorry.. Move the "Blender Foundation" folder to another location?

yes, "Blender Foundation" folder contains the preferences and addons which I'm trying to rule out as a cause of crash.
You can put it back later on.

Okay.. I moved the Blender Foundation folder over to C:\Users\bkort\AppData\Local\Blender Foundation

when I opened Blender, I set it up and then added a cube, increased the size of it and subdivided and added 6 different textures, and no crashing. blender was also crashing if I stopped using it but left the program open.. to go look at my texture folder to see which texture I want to use, .. I did that a couple of times and blender didn't crash...

blender was also crashing if I stopped using it

you mean it "was also not crashing", as you later say ? To clarify: does it crash now, in any case?
if so, marking as resolved.
Do comment if I misunderstood.

Yes.. Moving the folder over to Local and out of roaming solved the problem... I tried everything to see if it would crash.. the other day, I had been working in Blender and when I stopped for 3 minutes to drink some coffee, and then go back to Blender, it crashed.. Trying to add texture while in Edit mode, caused it to crash.. I was constantly fighting it for over a week now and getting stressed... I've been talking to the Blender.org community trying to solve the problem..

I was Also having the same issue with Blender 2.81 because when the 2.82 was crashing, I changed to the 2.81 and had the same issue...

At the moment, with the Blender Foundation folder in the Local folder instead of the roaming.. it is working with no crashing.. I have fingers crossed it will keep on working..

Thank you ever so much for checking this for me and for your help in solving my issue.. I truly appreciate it.. God bless you ...
