System Information

Blender Version
2.90-2deb6c517787-windows64

Short description of error
The new extrude first of all is BLOODY FANTASTIC, Blender has needed it for a long time, so pleased to see it. But it doesn't interact with pre existing geometry.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
I wish I could include a screen shot, but take the standard cube, CTRL+R the cube into a rubiks. Use the new extrude to pull a top edge down passed a pre sliced edge, the pre sliced edge doesn't get collected by the dissolve function. If you want this to work like other design tools it very much should cut into ALL pre existing geometry. Please make it do this!!

Thanks.

This report is very unclear.

  • It's not clear what '2.9 New Extrudew' refers to
  • You can include screenshots here
  • The sentence*'Use the new extrude to pull a top edge down passed a pre sliced edge, the pre sliced edge doesn't get collected by the dissolve function'* is very unclear
  • The last sentence saying 'Please make it do this!!' makes this seem like a feature request, which we don't accept in the bug tracker.

Sorry for my human syntax, I'm just excited.

Extrude Disolve.

Extrude disolve will correctly 'pull back' and disolve the existing surrounding edges, but it will not disolve any other edges or verts, or faces that already exist and do not belong to the face being extruded. I'm sorry if my terminology isn't yours, I'm not a 3d prismatic developer.

Also when you use extrude disolve to pull a face through another pre existing face on an object it creates more geometry, where a user of a cad system would expect a hole.

So block 1 is correct, superb.
Block 2, the face has been pulled passed an edge, this edge should have been picked up also disolved.
Bock 3, it's a bad example as it's on the side of the cube, but it should really have sut a hole through the cube, not added to the bottom.

I hope this makes more sense.
