@fclem Looks like Mesa is not happy with the fix for macOS glitches in the UI.

Keeping Mesa glitch separate from Catalina + Intel HD 6xx issues in #78307 (Drawing artifacts in the Blender UI on macOS)
Changing status since this is being worked upon, & #78307 is a 2.90 release target too.

@OmarEmaraDev Could you retry on latest build ? {388639243053} has been reported to have fixed the issue on macOS at least.
@ankitm The problem is still there. Compiled at

@Sergey {388639243053} is not working for Mesa + AMD setup. It fixed the macOS + intel issues though.
Can you explain a bit more what exactly you mean by "is not working for Mesa + AMD setup" ?
Is the commit did not fix the problem? Did the change made things worse?
Isn't this line indicating that
3886392430
should've fixed the problem reported in this report ? If so, it didn't fix it, as Omar said. The problem here was introduced in630c6226e2
.I don't have AMD gpu or mesa driver to test if it made things worse.
Disabling the back-end SB shader optimizer fixes the issue. So perhaps the best option would be to report that to Mesa. Gert Wollny of the R600 team have the same GPU I have, so maybe he can help fix this upstream. What do you think?
@OmarEmaraDev Or maybe he could give us a hint on what triggers the issue. This way we could have a real fix for MacOS and Mesa.
Apparently the SB backend is no longer maintained and will be superseded by an NIR backend. Mesa developers suggested we disable the SB backend
R600_DEBUG=nosb
as a workaround until the NIR path is mature enough to be used. Since this only affects the R600/SB path that is not officially supported by Blender, I guess we can close this and maybe mention the workaround somewhere.https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/issues/3330
