System Information
Operating system: macOS Catalina Version 10.15.6 (19G73)
Processor: 2.6 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i7
Memory: 16 GB 2667 MHz DDR4
Graphics card: AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 8 GB
Blender Version
Version 2.83.0 (2.83.0 2020-06-03).
Short description of error
Blender does not recognize the graphic card drivers on the above and previous Catalina macOS versions.
Note: drivers recognized OK by Windows 10 on same machine.
This forced me to create a boot camp drive with windows 10 and switch back and forth
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Install Blender on Mac pro 16 inches under Catalina OS.
Hope I provided enough info to help solve the issue

Unfortunately Blender 2.80 and later does not support GPU rendering with AMD GPUs on macOS due to the deprecation of OpenCL. For a more detailed explanation please check the ticket that I've merged this one in.
This may change in the future though, when Blender uses Vulkan/MoltenVK and thereby Apple's Metal API. However, until Cycles is also ported it is not possible to use GPU rendering on macOS with Cycles. Third-party render engines like AMD Radeon™ ProRender are an alternative in the meantime.
Thanks for your quick replay. Does this also affect viewport performance? I have noticed that when my scene gets more complicated with several objects and textures, the machine slow down to a point that is impossible to keep working and I have to switch to Windows.
This particular limitation on macOS doesn't impact viewport performance.

Hi,
after almost one year, is there some light at the end of the dark Mac GPU rendering tunnel.
After the Mac update to M1 and no chance to get a 27" imac, I went with an Intel imac.
So, is there any progress about Mac AMD GPU rendering (cycles)
Thanks in advance
