System Information
Operating system: Windows 7
Graphics card: GeForce GTX 650Ti

Blender Version
Broken: Blender 2.91 3271074120
Worked: Blender 2.91 4fa4245464

Short description of error
When adding a scene Add > Scene in the Video Sequencer and then either starting the playback or dragging the strip, the UI turns whiteish. This does not happen if I just load a video directly to the video editor. It just happens with videos/scenes created inside the same .blend file.

The same issue occurs when rendering a frame, saving the project file with {key CTRL S} and then moving around in the image editor by with the middle mouse button pressed.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • Create a new scene.
  • Switch to the Video Editing workspace.
  • Use Add > Scene and select the first scene.
  • Either press play (bpy.ops.screen.animation_play()) or move the strip with {key G}

  • Open Blender
  • Save the project
  • Render a frame {key F12}
  • Save the project {key CTRL S}
  • Press the middle mouse button and drag the mouse in the window with the render result

I can confirm this issue. This only seems to happen on frames that aren't cached. Once a frame has been cached the UI has the proper colors. I'm bisecting this now.

Hi.

I just wanted to know please when the fix is going to be available. I just downloaded the latest version "blender-2.91.0-70cc0d7121aa-windows64" from today October 23 and the issue is still there.

Thank you very much.

@fclem I can still reproduce the issue. The commit doesn't seem to have fixed it. Additionally there is a related report #82001 that has a similar problem.

I can reproduce the 2nd issue but not the first one anymore. Are you sure you can reproduce using factory startup?

I did not use "Factory Startup" but i made a "config" folder in the 2.91 folder to start up fresh (i suppose) and the issue of the UI turning whiteish when playing scenes in the video editor from the same blender file is still there in "blender-2.91.0-70cc0d7121aa-windows64".

@fclem Both issues still occur in a current master build on Windows.

In this case the bug happens in the GPU module, so removing the UI one.
