System Information
Operating system: Darwin-20.2.0-x86_64-i386-64bit 64 Bits
Graphics card: AMD Radeon Pro 5500M OpenGL Engine ATI Technologies Inc. 4.1 ATI-4.2.13

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.92.0 Alpha, branch: master, commit date: 2021-01-03 01:04, hash: 1e8f266591
Worked: unknown

Short description of error
Adding an array affects the appearance of a different object in rendered view.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
In Cycles - rendered view
have two objects with different materials, add an array modifier to one of them
one of the objects changes color

It seems to happen only when adding the array to the last added object?

Simplest case is just adding a second cube to the default scene and then adding an array.

Furthermore when I then delete the object that causes the problem to appear, Blender instantly crashes. If I first delete the other object, it is no problem.

The crash is triggered even more easily by just duplicating the default cube and then deleting it (happens only in cycles rendered view).

Thank you for the report.

I cannot reproduce the issue using 2.92.0 Alpha, branch: master, commit date: 2021-01-05 20:21, hash: 5424b4821d

I suspect that 166c0db3f9 might have fixed this issue. Your crash text looks similar to ones I had previously due to the bvh not getting updated properly.

Can you try using the latest daily build from https://builder.blender.org/download/? It has 166c0db3f9.

Tested using:
OS: Windows-10-10.0.19041.630-SP0 64 Bits
GPU: GeForce GTX 470/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 391.35
CPU: i7-950 @3.07 GHz SSE2 SSE3 SSE41
RAM: 8.00 GB
