Short description of error
Moire-pattern effect near the highlights when using particle hair with subsurface scattering in Eevee.
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Open provided file.
Hit render.
There seems to be some moire pattern effect when I render highlights with subsurface / hair.
I can trace it as far back as the March 4 version which displays this effect (2.93.0 Alpha, branch: master, commit date: 2021-03-03 22:32, hash:
e4a55b46c4
, type: Releasebuild date: 2021-03-04, 00:24:38)
This is compared to a render in march 2nd version: (2.93.0 Alpha, branch: master, commit date: 2021-03-02 07:40, hash:
c4ef90f5a0
, type: Releasebuild date: 2021-03-02, 07:57:48) which does not have this effect:
Version 2.92 has no moire effect (2.92.0, branch: master, commit date: 2021-02-24 16:25, hash:
02948a2cab
, type: Releasebuild date: 2021-02-25, 09:31:14):
It could be a due to a setting change that I'm not aware of? Or is this a bug?
Thanks,
Lawrence

This is not a real regression but more like it revealed an artifact that was present but hidden.
It comes from the translucence using the geometric normal that is computed using fragment shader derivative, leading to poor precision at depth discontinuity.
Using a more costly but better approach yield better result so I'll commit the fix.
