Blender Version
Broken: 2.92
Short description of error
Every single time I try to bake a high res particle system, in this case, fire at 256 + default noise settings, it never gets to complete the render and the blender crashes completely (including the console running in the background) at around frame 60 / 150.
Pausing and resuming baking sometimes works but most of the time it instantly crashes on the resume.
Edit:
I currently have 32 GB RAM and they are not really under much use during the bake.
I tried with an RTX 3070 and Ryzen 5800x and the same issue.
Crash file:
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Simply bake the file attached, I can't do it and I tried with multiple brand new .blend simple mantaflow setups.

Hey I have the same Problem
Where did you find the crash file?
Search for %TEMP% folder and sort by most recent. A file [save name].crash will show up as soon as blender crashes. I actually searched a few days ago for someone with a similar issue and found none..at least I'm not alone.

Hi, I had the same problem. Yet it seems that changing the cache folder may help to avoid the issue. At least it works for me. Guess there was some file overwriting issues when baking to the same old folder. Hope this helps you, too.
I just tried changing the folders and drive paths just in case but to no avail, the issue still persists in my case. Before this, I even did a full Windows reinstall and tried it clean without any extra software or drivers installed but nothing is working. I thought about a RAM memory fault, did a 5 hours test on the brand new ram sticks and I had no errors pop up so I have no idea what is going on.
It is a shame that there is basically no info on this, especially when is happening on a brand new system like mine. I've seen other topics around with similar issues but there is not much interest in solving them. Probably this is why it's good to pay for your software and not use open-source material, support may be there when you actually need it.
I tried some different settings for my fluid sim and yes, it has a high chance of crashing if the final resolution is not low. But since my scene doesn't contain the latest features so I just open my file with 2.90 and it bakes fine so far for my resolution and noise setting. It really is a shame to see that the newer version has an issue like that.
Well, cheers for the suggestion! I just tried (again from what I remember) in 2.9 and it seems to be fully working under this version. In this case, I will be using this version until it's fixed on the latest version.

Thanks for the report. I can confirm.

Mantaflow (fluid simulator) has no active developer at the moment. Moving those bugs as known issues so at least other users can find their issues already reported.
