Short description of error
When I add a new node to a nodetree things can be slow, even if the node is not connected to the nodetree.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • Open wavy procedural wall .
  • Add any new node (e.g., Attribute Fill)
  • Delete the node, add another node, tweak the values of the node ...

Even though the nodes are not connected to the maintree it is slow to tweak them / add them/ ...

Cases that need to be optimized:

  • Add new unconnected node.
  • Tweak unconnected node.
  • Delete unconnected node.
  • Add reroute
  • Object is moved but the node group does not depend on the transform.

Just a quick heads up on this:

I just gave my old project where I noticed this performance problem another try and it's performing very nicely now ( mentioned here https://developer.blender.org/T92960 ).
The blend file attached here (the stone bridge) also doesn't show the slowdowns any more. Maybe this report can be closed now?
