System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.19041-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: GeForce GTX 760/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 457.30

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.93.0, branch: master, commit date: 2021-06-02 11:21, hash: 84da05a8b8
Worked: 2.82

This was a bug that came up way back in the pre-2.8 era that I reported and was fixed, but it seems that it's back again :-/

In any field that accepts string inputs, press the shift key while typing an entry made up of multiple words separated by spaces with the purpose of writing in capital letters. You'll see that while shift is pressed, the space bar doesn't function. This worked in all 2.8 and 2.9 Blender versions except in 2.93

And also, pressing shift to slow down an interactively transformed object doesn't behave as previously. In fact, the transformation doesn't slow down at all! Transform an object using the move manipulator and try to slow it down by pressing shift. It doesn't respond! So in essence, there's something going on with the shift key press in 2.93

Have you been able to replicate the issue?

This is quite rad :( I believe that one of the key features in Blender's workflow is the ability slow-down any interface interaction with the shift key, and it's stopped working, let alone the spacebar issue. And still no reply?

pressing shift to slow down an interactively transformed object doesn't behave as previously.

Try with factory setting and make sure you don't have any custom keymap or addons enabled.
I had to reassign shift to Precision Mode in Transform Modal Map because i use custom keymap in 2.93.0 LTS.

Also pressing Shift after Ctrl doesnt work any more. Shift must be pressed before any other key modifier in order to use Precision Mode with Snap.

I just don't get what extra input I can give on the subject. This was working in 2.92 so all I can do is give you simple instructions to replicate the issue (I already did when I first posted the report btw)

1- Open Blender 2.92
2- In any text field start typing while pressing down shift to type capital letters.
3- Press the space bar while holding down shift, you'll see that a space is typed as expected.
4- Try the same process in 2.93 or 2.93.1, you'll see that space will be ignored when shift is pressed.

Example:

  1. Fresh install of 2.92.0 (portable mode) on Windows 10
  2. New scene
  3. Double click on the default Cube in the Outliner to rename it
  4. Hold down the shift key and type "BANANA HAT" to rename the default Cube
  5. Observe that the Cube is renamed to "BANANA HAT"
  6. Repeat steps 2 to 4, but this time on a fresh install of 2.93.0 (portable mode)
  7. Observe that the Cube is renamed to "BANANAHAT" without a space
