System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.19041-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: AMD Radeon(TM) Vega 8 Graphics ATI Technologies Inc. 4.5.13596 Core Profile Context 20.10.44.05 27.20.11044.5003

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.93.0, branch: master, commit date: 2021-06-02 11:21, hash: 84da05a8b8
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)

Short description of error
When importing collada(dae) models, some weird glitch shows up (this might also happen with the other models).

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • Open Blender
  • File -> Import -> Collada (Default) (.dae)
  • Import a file (I used Silver the Hedgedog)

Silver_ColladaMax.DAE

Has this worked in a previous release? https://download.blender.org/release/

(unable to reproduce here with a 970m in Linux)

Can reproduce on windows but I will double check after upgrading the driver
(I think it's a driver specific issue)

Can confirm this issue. In my experience, the artifacts appear with multiple material slots when one of the materials has <1 viewport display color alpha. Minimal steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. Create a new default scene (File->New->General)
  2. Confirm you are using solid shading and your color is set to "Material" in viewport shading settings
  3. Adjust the cube's default material viewport color alpha. Observe no artifacts.
  4. Add a material slot to the default cube.
  5. Adjust the cube's default material viewport color alpha. Artifacts appear when the viewport color alpha is less than one.

Tested on two separate Windows 10 machines with AMD GPUs, artifacts appear on both machines. Both machines have updated drivers as the time of writing this message. No artifacts on a machine with Intel GPU.

The artifacts do not appear in v2.90.1 or anything earlier, but start to appear after v2.91.0. I compiled multiple versions between v2.90.1 and v2.91.0, and the artifacts begin to appear after 854c999d82.

This is same as #83022 (Transparency in Solid View Causes Glitch Artifacts)

Can be merged, I guess
