Broken: version: 2.93.1, branch: master, commit date: 2021-06-22 05:57, hash:
1b8d33b18c
Worked: never used the program before
Short description of error
As soon as I try to save a file or go into the add-on menu it crashes. Even when I cancel from the saving/saving-as window it still crashes.
I tried it with an empty file or saving it to another location.
I ran it as admin as well. I also installed it on my hard drive and the same mistake happens.
I even tried it with an older version (2.83) but the same thing happens. I think the problem is with my computer or the way I installed it but I did not change anything from the default options. When starting up a black window appears and there is only one line of code starting with read prefs.
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
I click on save file and it crashes. I can model, sculpt etc but as soon as it interacts with something outside the main program interface, it crashes. There is no file I can upload. I have never used the program before so I am totally lost.

Please open Blender's installation directory and double click on the
blender_debug_gpu.cmd
. This will start Blender in debug mode and create log files. Try to make Blender crash again. Once it crashes the Windows Explorer should open and show you up to two files, a debug log and the system information. Add them to your bug report by clicking on the upload button as shown in the screenshot below or via drag and drop. Please also upload the crash log located inC:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Local\Temp\[project name].crash.txt
(or simply type%TEMP%
into the path bar of the Windows Explorer).blender_debug_output.txt
blender_system_info.txt
blender.crash.txt
These should be the right files! Thank you for your fast answer.
The crash appears to happen in the
wintab32.dll
which part of a driver for graphics/drawing tablets (e.g. Wacom). Could you please update the driver for the tablet and check if this resolves the issue? That fixed it! Thank you so much fo your help and quick answers

You're welcome!
Sorry to text again, the same issue happened again. It worked perfectly one time and now it crashes again.
I attached the files again. I de-installed the driver (I don't have the tablet anymore) and I don't have another tablet driver installed.

@HanaNaHana It seems that the uninstaller didn't remove the
wintab32.dll
as expected. There isn't a really clean solution as I don't know if there is another software on your system that depends on this file / has originally installed it. You could try to rename bothC:\Windows\SysWOW64\Wintab32.dll
andC:\Windows\SYSTEM32\Wintab32.dll
, e.g. by adding a letter to the filename and then rebooting Windows. Note, this is only meant as a temporary workaround. Using a current installer of the tablet software or the installer of another software that installed that particular DLL, to remove all associated files, would be ideal.Changed status from 'Needs Triage' to: 'Archived'
No activity for more than a week. As per the tracker policy we assume the issue is gone and can be closed.
