Geometry Nodes do not respect the "Indirect Only" view layer setting #89707

System Information
Operating system: Linux (Debian 11)
Graphics card: NVIDIA RTX 2060

Blender Version
Broken: 3.0.0 Alpha (e1a719c043)
Worked: it doesn't work on Blender 2.93.1 stable too.

Short description of error

When a collection is set to Indirect Only, and thus should not be directly visible, geometry generated by Geometry Nodes inside said collection ignores the setting and appears as visible.

Screenshot_20210707_122205.png
the incorrect behavior, with Geometry Nodes enabled.

Screenshot_20210707_122217.png
the correct behavior, when the view layer visibility of Geometry Nodes is disabled

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Apply a geometry node modifier to an object.
  2. Place said object in a collection.
  3. From the Outliner, set the aforementioned collection as "Indirect Only".
  4. Observe the incorrect behavior.

A simple .blend file is attached, which clearly shows what is happening.
I've tested this on both Blender 3.0.0 and Blender 2.93.1. In both cases, the error appears.

Can not recreate the issue with 3.0.0 (7223a0348f, commit date 2021-06-27 & 7af40ccf5f, commit date: 2021-07-06)

4.5.0 NVIDIA 460.73.01

Unsure if blaming the driver would be ok but please check again after upgrading the driver .

Enabled add-ons:

Try disabling add-ons from Preferences -> Add-ons tab. so far I can notice a few 3rd party add-ons also.

@PratikPB2123 thank for your answer. I've done some extra testing.
I confirm this is not addons related. I've started Blender with a completely fresh profile, but the issue kept happening.
However, I have found out that if I use CUDA as opposed to Optix, the issue does not appear on my system. So, it seems to be definitely related to this.

Unfortunately, I cannot update my drivers easily, as I am running Debian and I would rather wait for the distributors to officially package the next version of the drivers (they should be backported in the next months).

Could be a driver related issue then.
I use AMD GPU so someone with NVIDIA can check this.

Can confirm.

Think this is the same as #89801 (Collection instances (Hair particle system, geometry nodes) visible when set to "Indirect Only" on view layer on OptiX Cycles), will merge these reports (and update that report with the file from this report)
