As mentioned in #89729 (Add toggle for Vertical and Horizontal Display Mode) we should support the Vertical and Horizontal List Display Modes as well. But rather than showing the data-block type icon there (which is rather useless), show the preview, which is much more important typically.

This may actually be nice for the regular File Browsing as well, but there it may be more important to have an icon to quickly differentiate the different file types.

Could also consider showing the thumbnail on hover in a custom tooltip when in non-thumbnail modes.

In fact might be worth considering having complex tooltips in all modes. So whether in list view or thumbnail view the tooltip could show the thumbnail at its largest size (which would even help when showing small thumbnails), along with more information than you would normally show in the list.
