Try changing the Audio Device under Preferences > System > Sound
Thanks for the report. I can not reproduce this on master:
a217e043be and 2.93.4 (
Not really sure but it looks similar to: #89045 (VSE playback periodically refuses to work (Pulseaudio, OpenAL seems fine))

@PunkCockerAnimations : can you confirm this works when you set Preferences > System > Sound to OpenAL?
There have also been fixes by @neXyon (unsure if they only affect Linux), but it might be worth trying a fresh 3.0 build from https://builder.blender.org/download/daily/
Thank you for your response changing the sound settings works I can't remember which device I selected and blender will be rendering a scene until tomorrow night. Will confirm which device I have used on Monday.
I can confirm that the device you have suggested works. Thank you for your help.
If there still is a bug, this should be fixed though! @PunkCockerAnimations can you please try the 3.0 alpha build that @lichtwerk mentioned, to see if the issue is still there (with WASAPI as audio device)?
Unfortunately, I'm in the middle of production and am reluctant to try unsupported builds.
If you download and unpack the zip file, it doesn't install anything. Of course you shouldn't save your production files with this version, ideally you just try it with the .blend file you attached here and don't even open your production files, then there should be no harm done to your production system.
I have done what you asked and can confirm that it works.
