Short description of error
At highly zoomed out y-axis, the digits in double-digit channel number labels end up combining with digits from neighbouring channel numbers to form visual mirages of incorrect numbers. On top of that, the incorrect numbers (lookalikes) are also off centre, so it just looks like a jumble of meaningless numbers.
Apart from raising the minimum pixel height of vse channels (which might not be wanted, as highly shrunk overviews are quite useful for large projects), the text kerning could be reduced slightly (as shown in below mockup) to successfully increase legibility - though I guess it's a question of would that kerning be used at all zooms, and if so does the new kerning affect legibility negatively at closer zoom levels.
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Zoom far out in VSE, and when the gaps reach a certain point, the numbers 10+ will appear to morph into different numbers by stealing digits from the neighbouring numbers.
